IACC  Photographic Competition Rules (2010/11 season)

Entrants to Club competitions must be fully paid up members of Ilkeston Arts & Camera Club and have paid their subscription for the current year.

All four Club competitions count towards the overall score for the season.

Only mounted prints will be accepted. Except where specified for the purposes of particular competitions, no distinction will be drawn between Colour and Monochrome.  Entry for each Club competition shall consist of a maximum of 3 prints per entrant.

Points awarded are as follows : Commended, +1; Highly Commended +2; 3rd +3; 2nd +4; 1st +5. Only an entrant's best score from each round counts towards the total score for the season. Notwithstanding this, a point is awarded for every image submitted. The number of  'Commended' and 'Highly Commended' awards made in any competition is entirely at the judge's discretion.

Any image may be entered in the Club competition once only, but may be entered into both the Club competition and the Annual Exhibition.

The Committee reserves the right :

(a)   not to accept any image entered for a Club competition for whatever reason they shall see fit
(b)   to exclude from the competition any print which it considers is the same as or significantly similar to any current or previous submission.

All entries must be the recent work of the photographer and must be substantially his or her work and not of another photographer or colleague. Professional printing and/or processing is acceptable.

All entries should have a basis in photography – digital forms included.

Prints may be colour or monochrome. The MINIMUM size of the longest side of each print should be not less than 7” (17.75cm).

Prints must be mounted and must be the entrant’s own work. The title and the photographer's name must be clearly marked on the reverse.

The ‘TOP’ of the print should be marked on the back of the entry. If an entry is deliberately untitled then the print should be clearly marked ‘No Title’ on the reverse. The photographer’s name, the title or any other text must not appear on the front of the print.

When mounting the print, please avoid the use of parcel tape or other adhesive means which may leave a residue which could damage other entries when stacked for the judge's consideration. Masking tape is acceptable if properly secured to the mount.

In any Club competition the Judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

While every possible care will be taken of entries for Club competitions, the Club accepts absolutely no responsibility for damage to or loss of any entry, howsoever caused.

In submitting work for a Club competition, the photographer accepts these rules and gives permission for the work to be scanned or copied for the Club's archive and if selected for display on the Club's website. No image will be used for any commercial purpose without specific permission from the photographer.
